Our Commitment to a Safe & Inclusive Creative Space

At The Hassan Cole & Company, we make films because we believe in the power of stories to reflect, challenge, and expand the human experience. That belief only means something if the spaces in which we create those stories are safe, equitable, and genuinely inclusive for every person who walks through our doors or onto our sets.

Before entering into any professional relationship with us, every contractor, collaborator, and service provider is required to read, acknowledge, and sign two foundational documents: our Declaration of Sexual Harassment Prevention and our Policy of Respect, Non-Discrimination, and Zero Tolerance for Homophobia, Transphobia, and Misogyny.

These are not formalities. They are a reflection of who we are and a condition of working with us. They exist to protect everyone, including you, and to ensure that The Hassan Cole & Company remains a space where creativity can flourish without fear, prejudice, or harm.

By signing, you are not simply agreeing to a set of rules. You are joining a community that holds itself to a higher standard, both on screen and behind the camera.

Both documents are legally binding under French law and applicable international human rights instruments. If you have any questions before signing, please do not hesitate to contact us at agoo   @hassancolecompany.com.

Our Values & Principles

PROSE — The Principles Behind Every Story We Tell

In literature, prose is the natural form of written language. It has no fixed metre, no rigid structure, no performance of perfection. It breathes. It moves. It tells the truth in the way that life actually unfolds, imperfectly, honestly, and with purpose. That is exactly what we are.

The Hassan Cole & Company is not a perfect organisation. We are a company built by human beings who are learning, growing, and committed to doing better with every project we take on. When we make mistakes, we acknowledge them, correct them, and move forward. We do not perform infallibility. We do not play the blame game. We take full responsibility for our outcomes, and we use every experience,

good or difficult, to become sharper, more considered, and more capable storytellers. That is what PROSE means to us.

PROSE is the set of principles that guides everything we create and everything we are.

P — People

We place human dignity at the centre of everything we create. We value not only our employees but every individual across our value chain, actors, crew members, contractors, partners, and the communities where our stories originate. Our people are not a resource. They are the reason any of this exists.

R — Respect

We cultivate working environments grounded in fairness, safety, and trust. We respect the voices, identities, and wellbeing of everyone involved in our productions, supporting autonomy, mental wellness, and professional growth at every level of every project we undertake.

O — Ownership

We take full responsibility for our outcomes. When things go well, we share the credit. When things go wrong, we own it, correct it, learn from it, and move forward. Ownership is not about blame. It is about integrity, and the courage to be accountable to the people who trust us with their stories, their time, and their talent.

S — Sustainability

Our storytelling advances social and environmental progress. We align our work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that intersect directly with our mission, including Quality Education, Gender Equality, Reduced Inequalities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Peace Justice and Strong Institutions, and Partnerships for the Goals. Sustainability is not a department. It is the operating system of The Hassan Cole & Company.

E — Excellence

African stories deserve the highest standards of craft. We pursue excellence in writing, direction, cinematography, editing, and production, ensuring every project we develop meets the global standards of the world’s leading film festivals and studios. We are not yet where we intend to be. But through continuous learning, honest reflection, and an unrelenting commitment to our craft, we are getting there. That journey is the work.
